About Re.flect

Re.flect is a free website mirroring or caching service, its aim is to combat the digg and slashdot effect servers experience due to high and unexpected demand.

Give it a URL and Re.flect will attempt to serve a pre-cached copy of that URL. If the cached copy does not exist it will try to cache and serve that request on-demand, future requests will then be served from our cache limiting demand on the originating server.

Usage Options

In addition to the box above, you can append cache requests directly to our URL, for example: http://re.flect.net/http://www.google.com or you can drag this bookmarklet to your browser bookmarks bar to use from any webpage.

Cached image requests are also supported, and can be embeded like such:<img src="http://re.flect.net/http://code.google.com/appengine/images/appengine-noborder-120x30.gif" />Powered by Google App Engine

Known Limitations

Re.flect is using the Google App Engine, which is in Beta so we are currently limited to the amount of requests and caches we can store.

  • There is a limit of 1MB on cache requests, large files will fail.
  • We have limited storage, old caches will be removed and replaced when we hit this limit.
  • In page meta-redirects are not followed correctly.
  • Scripts an CSS in HTML pages are not yet cached.
  • Pre-Emptive caching is very limited, were working on pulling popular digg items but its not quite done yet.
